Frequently Asked Questions

  • What style guides are used?
I'm proficient using the latest editions of these guides: The Chicago Manual of Style (used by most book publishers) and The Associated Press Stylebook (used by most journalists and many corporations). Please note that at this time I don't check citations or format for APA, AMA, and Harvard.
  • What if my file isn't a Word document?
I accept most file types, including MS Word, PDF, and PowerPoint. If your document is in Mac Pages, simply export it to Word before sending. If you need instructions, I can send them to you.
  • Do delivery times vary?
Yes, I'll regularly update the delivery time on this gig to reflect current workload. It can vary from two days to five days or more. Please feel free to message me about your expected deadline -- it's likely I can create a custom offer that will work for you.
  • Can I get a PDF edited?
If a PDF is editable (not simply an image), I will note edits using pencil and sticky notes (Adobe tools). At this time, I'm not able to MODIFY a PDF. Suggested edits are marked and explained with Adobe notes.
  • Can I still schedule editing with you while you're on vacation?
Yes! I will respond to messages while I'm away and will happily schedule editing projects that start immediately when I return.
  • Is formatting offered?
I'll stick with what I do best -- editing! I will, however, note inconsistencies in formatting, such as line spacing, fonts, font sizes, margins, and tabs. While I read each word of your document, I do not verify formatting for citations, footnotes, references, APA, MLA, Harvard, etc.
  • How do I view edits using Word's track changes?
To view edits, open the Word file on your computer (not phone), select the Review tab. From the Track Changes area, select the All Markup option from the drop-down menu. Use the Accept/Reject buttons as you read your document. For more info, search for track changes on https://support.office.com.
