About This Gig

I will proofread and critique any short story or competition entry with a high amount of scrutiny. As it is difficult to discern the difference between a personal creative decision and a genuine error, I offer two revisions as a default to allow for the writer to decide whether or not to implement my feedback.

As competition deadlines are time-sensitive, I offer an option to ensure that I prioritise feedback for potential submissions.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • Can I enter correspondence to discuss the corrections?
Yes, of course. Context is important, and I may have misunderstood your creative intent. Correspondence is offered alongside all packages, for no additional cost.
  • Do I have to accept criticism on the content, or can I just have someone check my grammar?
Absolutely. Let me know what level of criticism you want, and I'll do my best to adapt to your requirements. However, the price will remain the same, regardless of the depth of my feedback.
  • Will you explain the rationale behind the feedback so I can learn from it in the future?
Yes. Everything from grammatical corrections to feedback on the content will be explained. Feel free to contact me if you don't understand something I've commented on.
  • What format will your corrections be in?
I'll convert whatever you send me into a .pdf file with corrections, and you'll receive that. I'll also keep an unchanged version for comparison.
  • What format should my file be in?
Ideally, a .pdf file, because that's far more flexible for giving feedback. However, if you prefer sending plaintext or a GoogleDocs, that's fine.
