This course is ideal for those working with, or working around any hazardous chemical(s), for those looking for a refresher course or for those who may be highly competent in other safety standards such as National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) or Hazardous Materials Identification System (HMIS) and would like an overview of the differences. Created as a user led presentation, it contains some interactivity. There is an associated printable worksheet for reference throughout the course only. This course will give the learner an overview of the regulations and will highlight specific elements that will need to be understood to identify hazards and where to seek further information about these hazards. It will look specifically at: Global Harmonized System of Classification and Labeling of Chemicals (GHS), A brief overview of the GHS and the 29 Hazard classes, label construction, Standard Pictograms, UN pictograms, Other pictogram examples (ie South Africa), a Safety Data Sheet (SDS) overview, Recommendations on the Transportation of Dangerous Goods, Hazard warning panels, transportation pictograms, packaging descriptions and transport documentation.
