I have studied Human Geography at
university and studied English Language and Modern 20th Century
History at college. This included the Vietnam War (including how it
spread into Laos and Cambodia) and the political ideologies and
'proxy wars' of the 'Cold War'.
I am currently interested in
investigative journalism (as well as travel writing), in particular
non-mainstream news stories such as the 'Rojava Revolution' in
northern Syria and the Kurdish struggle against Daesh/ISIS and the
wider conflict in general. Other current events that I am following
writing about are: The EU referendum in the UK and what the results
will potentially mean for the rest of the UK and Europe, the
Zapatista movement in Chiapas Mexico, Venezuela's demise and current
economic crisis after the death of Hugo Chavas, the opening up of
Cuba to the 'West' and the rise of Africa as a new emerging economy.
These are just several examples.
I will go to many of the countries I am investigating, and conduct interviews confidentially..
