Editing and Consulting for Queer Indie Fiction Writers
About this Gig
Your characters are real people to you. I want to help make them feel just as real on the page.
I've spent almost 10 years working with the LGBTQ+ community as a licensed mental health counselor, and I've been a creative writer for as long as I could read. I specialize in developmental editing for indie fiction, especially LGBTQ+ romance and erotica, sci-fi/fantasy, Young Adult (YA), and literary fiction.
What a developmental edit with me covers:
- Structure, pacing, and plot consistency
- Character psychology and emotional authenticity
- Worldbuilding and internal logic
- Thematic development and resonance
Every project I work on will get a comprehensive editorial letter, a "big picture" report on what's working, what's not, and what your book needs to be its best self. The Full Edit tier also includes detailed inline annotations throughout your manuscript.
Not sure what to expect? Start with my Sample tier! I'll give you a taste of what the Full Edit would look like on just the first 5000 words of your manuscript.

FAQ
What's the difference between your Manuscript Critique and Full Edit tiers?
Both tiers come with a comprehensive editorial letter, but for the Full Edit, I'll also go through and provide inline annotations so you can get highly detailed, line-by-line feedback.
Will you edit explicit or potentially triggering content?
Yes! I've worked as a therapist for nearly a decade, so you can be totally confident in my ability to handle such content in a sensitive and professional manner.
Do you use AI in your editing?
No, I will never use AI in my work. The editorial letter and any inline annotations will always be 100% my own writing.
What does your background bring to your editing work?
As a therapist, I have a trained eye for psychological realism that most editors don't. I'm also queer, trans, and neurodivergent, so I bring that lived experience when editing characters like me.
What should I expect for the scope of the edits?
Developmental editing is big-picture, so expect notes on things like character motivations, plot holes, and pacing problems. I might catch some typos or point out prose problems along the way, but if you're looking specifically for that, you want proofreading or line editing, not developmental.
