I will make music and sound for your project

About this gig
Collaboration and communication are important to my process. We'll start by talking (via chat, email, or voice) in a broad way about what you're looking for, including any comparable tracks or temp score you may be using; this can be as general as a mood or as granular as a particular tempo or key. We'll develop the lyrics, if any, at this stage. I'll produce some rough sketches (e.g., a quick-and-dirty synth instrumental, or a guitar-and-voice demo) as proof of concept, running it by you for feedback and revision. You'll be in the loop at all times; I'll keep you up to date with work-in-progress mixes, so you can hear your project taking shape.

FAQ
What's your musical background?
I've been a working musician on and off since I was a teenager, playing in wedding bands--learning to play in a variety of genres and to work quickly. Later, I led a church choir and spent some time in serious study of the folk tradition. I currently front a power-pop band.
What styles do you work in?
Many! I'm primarily a pop/rock singer-songwriter, but I've got a solid background in music theory. I'm particular drawn to vocal arranging: Beach Boys-style jazz-pop harmonies, church choral settings, even shape-note.
What instruments do you play?
Various guitars, banjo, mandolin, percussion, basic keyboards, harmonica, a little flute. And with access to libraries of synth sounds, I can create arrangements for a full ensemble.
How will you deliver my project?
That's up to you! Typically, I deliver fully mixed stereo tracks in lossless .WAV format. But if you want proof-of-concept demos and sheet music to have the work rerecorded with other musicians, or isolated stems, I'm down. Let's talk!
Do you make music with lyrics?
Sure, if that's what you need! I can write full lyrics, or set existing words to music--or we can work together to find the best way to say what you want to say. Every project is a collaboration, and feedback is an essential part of my process.
Who are some of your influences? Who do you sound like?
Ennio Morricone, Daft Punk, Zbigniew Preisner, surf guitar, David Byrne, Tom Waits, Richard Thompson, Scottish fiddle music, Julianna Barwick, Daniel Lanois, Eno, north African percussion, Peter Gabriel, Vangelis, krautrock, Bowie, John Carpenter, Pentecostalist hymnody, psychedelia . . .
