I'm a graphic designer who creates assembly/installation instructions/user manuals for various products. I specialize in designing assembly instructions for furniture in SolidWorks Composer, and I have been working in a furniture factory for three years.
I also create instructions for other types of products, providing step-by-step guidance in print or online formats.

What input information and files do you need? #1
When you contact me, send me a photo of your product in the message so I can tell you if it belongs to the category of products for which I make instructions and that I know what input information and files I need from you.

The required information and files for most products are: 1. CAD files; 2. Explanation of assembling/installing process (text list, photo, or video instructions) with all steps, hardware included, and tools needed, 3. Document layout information- you will get detailed questions for this later.
Why do you need a CAD files?
I'm a technical illustrator and I work only with CAD files and 3D models so I use a modern way of creating technical documentation using special software into which a 3D model is imported and the necessary 2D illustrations/images are generated based on its geometry.
What if client don't have CAD files?
If you don't have CAD files, send me some photos of your product and tell me which input files (sketch, photo, 2D drawings, ...) you can provide me to can see if is it possible to create a 3D model based on them.
Can I get the source layout file and is it free?
It depends on the number of documents the client needs (for one or more products) and on the price. In general, for one-time jobs and jobs with a low price, a source layout document is not free, and for long-term jobs that have a high price, the source layout document is free.
In what software was the source layout document created?
I make document layouts in the Adobe Indesign software which is a leading program and industry standard for layout design. For some simpler documents, it is possible to create the source document in Adobe Illustrator, and for other software, you need to contact me to see if that is possible.
What if I only need images but don't need an instruction document?
It is possible, of course, and the price will be lower than if you needed the entire document.
