MacLeod, author of 9 published novels and proud mom with a combined honors B.A. in English & History, a Bachelor of Education with distinction, qualifications in guidance, special ed, and social science education, plus 23+ years of editing and teaching experience, running a writing club, and a lifetime as a reader.

Do you translate to English?
No, your manuscript must be already written in standard English.
Do you offer ghostwriting?
No, you must write your own manuscript before we beta read it.
Will you still beta read my book if I've already published it?
Yes! Sometimes, authors publish their work and don't receive the positive reviews they were hoping for. Hiring us to beta read can provide detailed explanations for what you should consider changing.
What document file types do you accept?
I edit MS Word docs and Google docs only. PDFs and image files will not be accepted.
How long have you been beta reading?
I am a lifelong reader. I am also a teacher with 20+ years experience. I edit work on a daily basis. It is a part of who I am. I will instinctively know if something in your writing needs to be changed to provide a better reading experience. I also have 2 university degrees in this field.
My novel is unpublished. Will anyone else read it?
Your work will never be shared with anyone other than myself, and my 3 middle-grade helpers. I will retain your story for thirty days after your gig is done in case you wish to revise the story and hire me to beta read for you again. Your intellectual property is safe with me.
Will you line edit or copy edit my work while you beta read?
Beta reading includes overall suggestions for improving story elements. Beta reading is NOT editing. See my other gigs for affordable copy editing.
What genre of books do you beta read?
All! As an English major with 2 university degrees, I have read a wide-range of literature, both fiction & non-fiction. My first degree specialized in historical texts. I also took courses that focused on poetry, writing, sci-fi/fantasy, & kid lit. My 3 middle graders love to read as well!
How many people will beta read my kid's book?
I will beta read your book, and so will 2 middle graders. We will provide honest feedback about the essential elements of good children's fiction. If they love your characters, world building, & plot, they will let you know. If anything needs to be changed, we'll inform you.
