Nope, we can start you off even if you have 0 experience at all. If you already know something about R or some other programming language, feel free to share and we can pick up where you stopped. Otherwise, starting from ground-zero is perfectly fine as well.

You will only need a working computer with an internet connection. During our first session, I can get you set up with all the required installations. If you'd like to save time, I will be happy to send the details to you beforehand as well.

The sessions will be held via Zoom audio calls. (video is usually based on preference)

I usually start with an introduction of myself. Depending on your needs, we can either discuss a particular problem you have on hand, a school or work assignment, an area you want to focus on, a bug you want to resolve or simply a general lesson in R.

If you have a specific problem bug, what usually works best is you share your screen so I can help troubleshoot and explain the issue on the spot via Zoon. If I need to show some details or demonstrate code, I may request control of the screen or share some examples on my screen.

If you have a specific assignment brief, I would ask you to send it over first for me to prepare before our call. During the call, I can guide you through how to handle it. This can either be done by you sharing your screen or me sharing mine (via Zoom), depending on the circumstances.

That is absolutely fine. Many of my students are just starting out in R and do not have an active problem on hand. I've prepared course material (data sets, PPT, exercises) that we can work on together. We usually start with the basics and work to identify a personal project to tackle together.

There are a few ways to handle such cases. 1) You can be assured that I do not share what we discuss with others. 2) You can delete any identifiers (such as names / addresses of people / companies). 3) You can choose not to share any of the data files with me and we will work off your screen.

I am based out of Singapore with full English proficiency as my native language, ensuring that communication will not be a barrier.
