Greetings, thanks for considering my beta reading service!
Feedback will be centred around:
- Opening
- Plot and Pace
- Characterization
- Language and Dialogue
In-line thoughts and reactions will be provided if an editable Word, PDF or Google Docs document is provided.
Sensitivity wise, I can provide some direction on issues regarding lone parenting, late miscarriage & stillbirth, and writing Black (especially British) characters, should this be required. I will flag anything that I feel poses potential issues.
Most genres are welcome, including fan fiction, blogs and non-fiction. If your story contains a lot of sensitive content, please message before booking.

Qualification and experience wise, I have experience as a literacy specialist within the education sector and also worked in retail banking for over a decade. I hold a degree in English Language & Literature.
I primarily read Fantasy and Dystopian fiction for enjoyment. However, I like many genres! You can check my social media to see what sorts of books I have read recently.

Is a blurb required?
No. In fact, I prefer to cold read. This helps me to record my feelings about the opening scene and where I think it might be going more accurately.
Do you accept submissions in American English?
Yes! All presentations of English are welcome. I am based in London, UK.
Do you use generative AI to analyse manuscripts?
No, I do not use language models to analyse manuscripts. Alpha, beta, and sensitivity reading is about authentic reader experiences and is therefore incompatible with with this role.
Do you consider work that contain scenes of a violent or sexual nature?
I do but please do send me a warning by message or under the 'is there anything else that you think I should know' section during submission. I do not accept any on-page abuse of children.
Do you accept submissions that are in draft stages or incomplete?
Yes. Please leave a message at checkout if you are having particular issues with completing the story and let me know what genre you are writing. Do let me know what stage your work is in so that I can take this into consideration whilst reading.
Do you give feedback on works that have already been published?
No. I do not provide reviews either. My service is intended for works that are still in the draft or editing phases.
Do you accept poetry?
Unfortunately, I am not accepting poetry at this time, though if your story contains a poem, that is fine.
Can I contact you after the work has been submitted?
Absolutely! Follow up questions and communication are welcomed and encouraged.
What are your timings like?
Submission dates are approximate and in periods where I am heavily booked, they may be subject to change. I no longer provide rush orders, so please be aware of that before booking.
