About This Gig

As an expert in early American antiques, I specialize in farm related items and vintage tools. I am able to make accurate appraisals for a wide variety of items: butter churns, corn shellers, wood planes, saws, collections, pocket knives, early electrical motors and fans, classic tractors, some glassware and pottery, advertising items, blacksmith tools and anvils, stationary gas engines, oil field items, machinist tool boxes, hardware store related items and many more. I can appraise a single item or a collection of items up to 10 items. I will appraise based on high quality pictures, location, and your description of condition.

You will receive a single value for the collection rather than an itemized list. I am providing you my qualified opinion of value and will do so either electronically or with a well-written letter describing my qualification to appraise as well as my opinion of market value. I may also provide guidance on a method of liquidation that would be appropriate for your item. The appraisal is intended to provide market value and is not designed for insurance purposes or value of charitable donations.

My specialties do not include: real estate, high end art, modern art, most furniture, coins, diamonds or jewelry. If an item is outside of my expertise, I will be honest and let you know.
  • Is your appraisal an offer to purchase?
No, it is simply my opinion of current market. I do buy stuff, especially antique tools for my personal collection and may make you an offer. An offer will be significantly less than my opinion of value in most instances.
