Inventory Control Supervisor

Jul 2022 - Jul 2026 • 4 yrs

As an Inventory Control Supervisor for a busy appliance repair company, I managed much more than just inventory. My role involved purchasing, order management, vendor communication, receiving, returns, inventory accuracy, administrative support, technician support, and helping keep day-to-day operations running smoothly. I managed parts orders from start to finish, including researching and identifying parts, placing orders, tracking shipments, handling backorders, processing returns and credits, resolving damaged or incorrect orders, and communicating with vendors when issues came up. I maintained inventory levels, organized stock, completed regular inventory counts and audits, investigated discrepancies, and made sure technicians had the parts and information they needed for their scheduled jobs. A large part of my role involved problem solving. If a part was unavailable, backordered, incorrect, or difficult to locate, I researched alternate suppliers, replacement part numbers, and other options to keep repairs moving whenever possible. I also created and maintained spreadsheets, tracking systems, forms, and simple online tools to make everyday processes easier and more organized. I regularly looked for ways to reduce unnecessary steps, improve accuracy, and make information easier for employees to access. Because I worked closely with technicians, office staff, management, vendors, and manufacturers, I became very comfortable managing multiple priorities at once and communicating information between different people. The position required a high level of organization, attention to detail, independence, and the ability to change priorities quickly when something urgent came up. Overall, my role was a combination of inventory management, purchasing, operations, administrative support, research, data management, and troubleshooting.

Co-Owner/Operations Management

Dec 2020 - Jun 2022 • 1 yr 6 mos

As co-owner of a small consignment and retail business, I was involved in many different parts of the day-to-day operations and helped manage both the physical store and our online presence. I managed and updated our Shopify website, including adding new products, writing and updating product information, organizing listings, updating pricing and inventory, and making sure the website stayed accurate as items were sold or added. Because our inventory was constantly changing, keeping information organized and up to date was an important part of my role. I also helped with inventory management, product organization, pricing, order processing, customer service, research, administrative tasks, and general business operations. Working in a small business meant there wasn’t always a specific person for every job, so I became very comfortable jumping between different responsibilities and figuring things out as they came up. I handled online and in-store customer questions, helped maintain records and product information, and worked to keep both the customer-facing and behind-the-scenes parts of the business organized. I also regularly looked for ways to improve how we handled everyday tasks and used technology wherever possible to make things easier and more efficient. Being a co-owner taught me how much work goes into running a business beyond what customers actually see. It required organization, attention to detail, time management, problem solving, customer service, and the ability to work independently without needing someone to tell me what needed to be done next.
