FAQ
What types of medical and dental tools can you design?
I can design a wide range of handheld medical and dental tools, including surgical instruments, dental hand tools, diagnostic instruments, rehabilitation tools, patient-care products, and other clinician-operated devices. The project must be suitable for an industrial-design and CAD scope.
Can you redesign an existing medical or dental tool?
Yes. If you have an existing tool that feels uncomfortable, is difficult to grip, has poor balance, or needs a more modern appearance, you can send photographs, measurements, sketches, or CAD. I can develop new ergonomic concepts based on the problems you want to solve.
How do you approach ergonomic grip design?
I consider factors such as hand size, grip position, tool balance, posture, reach, control, and intended operation. I can develop several grip concepts and refine the selected direction into a detailed 3D CAD model. If you have specific user feedback, provide it and I can incorporate it
Can you design the tool for use with medical gloves?
Yes. Gloved use can be considered during the industrial-design process. Tell me what type of glove or operating environment is expected, and I can account for factors such as reduced dexterity, grip interaction, control access, and surface geometry.
Can you make the tool suitable for one-handed operation?
Yes, where the intended use allows it. I can consider the placement and shape of controls, grip geometry, balance, and the required hand movements when developing the design. Any clinical or procedure-specific requirements should be provided by the appropriate clinical or engineering team.
Can you design the tool to be easier to clean?
Yes. I can design the physical form with cleanability in mind, including smooth transitions, reduced unnecessary crevices, practical seams, and appropriate surface geometry. However, I do not perform sterilization validation or certify that a product meets a specific sterilization
What materials can you design the tool around?
Depending on the project, I can consider common material directions such as stainless steel, aluminum, polycarbonate, and silicone grip materials. Final material selection, medical-grade requirements, biocompatibility, sterilization compatibility, and validation should be confirmed by your qualified
Will the CAD files be ready for prototyping?
Yes. Depending on your selected package, I can provide STEP and STL files suitable for prototyping workflows such as CNC machining and 3D printing. Premium work can also include additional drawings, assemblies, ergonomic iterations, and a more complete prototype-oriented file package.
Do you provide physical prototypes or manufacture the tool?
No. I provide the industrial design, CAD, renders, and prototype-ready digital files. I do not physically manufacture the instrument. You can use the completed files with a qualified CNC machining, 3D-printing, or manufacturing supplier.
Do you provide FDA, sterilization, clinical, or regulatory advice?
No. My service is focused on industrial design, ergonomics, CAD, and product visualization. I do not provide FDA submissions, regulatory strategy, clinical validation, sterilization validation, or clinical-performance claims. Those areas should be handled by appropriately qualified professionals.
