Do you want to improve your writing? Are you looking for meaningful advice on how to make your text stand out? Please send me your work! Developmental editing and line editing are the two types of editing services I provide.
As a journalist, editor, published fiction writer, and expert in the film industry, I understand what makes a manuscript unique. I'll show you how to give your narrative the best chance of being published since I know a good story when I see one.

What kind of editing does this gig include?
I actually offer two different services through this gig: Developmental Editing and Line Editing. Before starting any job, please let me know which service you're interested in.
What is Developmental Editing?
A detailed critique of your work. It includes inline commentary on structure, style, and language, as well as a separate editorial report with holistic recommendations. I'll highlight what's working, what's not, and offer suggestions for you to consider as appropriate.
What is Line Editing?
This is where I make actual edits to the text, working to improve style, flow, and clarity. I'll add transitional language as needed (within reason), break up or rearrange paragraphs to improve flow, etc. I'll also correct grammar errors as I find them, but this isn't a proofreading service.
I'm not sure what I need?
Contact me and let me know what your goals are at present for your draft. If you think you may need both services, developmental editing would normally come first. Sometimes for shorter texts it's possible to do both services simultaneously.
