I will hire the right developer for your project

Alan Halley
About this gig
Hiring a freelance developer now means wading through 50 to 200 proposals, most of them written by AI in the first ten minutes. They all sound qualified. Most aren't.
I've hired a few hundred people over 30+ years in software, many of them developers, including on Upwork for clients. I know what to ask and what a good answer looks like.
What you get:
- A job post that attracts the right people and puts off the wrong ones, with one screening question that separates real answers from generated ones.
- I read every proposal so you don't have to. You get a shortlist with a short written note on each candidate: why they made it, and what to watch for.
- At the higher tier, I run technical interviews on the shortlist and recommend who to hire, with a clear first milestone so you can see results before committing.
I wait about three days after the post goes up before shortlisting. The first wave is mostly spam; the real applicants arrive after it.
Good fit: founders and small businesses hiring a web, mobile or AI developer who can't judge technical candidates themselves.
Not a fit: full-time employee recruiting, or roles outside software.
