What do I need to provide before you can start?
You don’t need engineering drawings to get started! A simple sketch, reference photos, dimensions, or a clear written description explaining what the product does and how it should work is enough. If you already have 2D drawings or CAD files, please send those over as well.
My idea is proprietary. Can we sign a Non-Disclosure Agreement (NDA)?
Yes, absolutely. I take intellectual property very seriously. Feel free to send over your standard NDA before sharing project details, and I will be happy to sign it.
How does the physical 3D printed prototype work, and how is it delivered?
Once the 3D digital model is finalised and approved, I print your prototype in-house, clean and post-process the part, and package it securely. The order is officially marked as delivered with the digital CAD files and a courier tracking number for your physical shipment. Shipping rates may vary.
What file formats will I receive?
For 3D models, I deliver standard manufacturing formats such as STEP, STP, and IGES, as well as 3D printing files (STL, OBJ). For 2D technical drawings, you’ll receive high-resolution PDFs and DXF/DWG files. Product renderings are delivered in high-resolution PNG/JPEG.
What is Design for Manufacturing (DFM), and do I need it?
DFM ensures your product isn't just a pretty concept, but can actually be produced economically by factories using methods like injection molding, CNC machining, or sheet metal fabrication. If you plan to mass-produce your item, choosing a package or extra with DFM is strongly recommended.
What is included in a revision?
Revisions cover adjustments to styling, proportions, surface details, colors, textures, and dimensions within the agreed-upon design scope. Revisions do not cover completely changing the core concept or restarting the project from scratch after an initial direction has already been approved.
