About this Gig
Planning a home renovation or looking to create an open-concept floor plan by removing a wall in Florida?
I am a licensed Professional Engineer (PE) in the State of Florida specializing in residential structural modifications, wall removals, and beam designs. I will transform your home remodeling sketches into a code-compliant structural plan package required by your local building department to secure a structural alteration permit.
WHAT EVERY PACKAGE DELIVERS:
All tiers include structural engineering drawings matched to your specific remodel scope:
Structural framing layouts showing modified joist/truss spans
Engineering calculations for replacement beams (LVL, Glulam, or Structural Steel)
Point-load column tracking down to the foundation level
Connection details (Post-to-beam connectors, hangers, and structural fasteners)
Footing modification details (thickened slabs/pads for new concentrated loads)
PE SEAL, SIGNATURE, & ESIGN COMPLIANCE:
Premium packages deliver legally valid, digitally signed and sealed PDF drawings. All files are verified using an FBPE-approved cryptographic digital certificate authority (such as IdenTrust or DigiCert) with SHA-256 validation.

FAQ
Can you tell if my wall is load-bearing from photos and sketches?
In many cases, yes. By looking at your floor plans, the direction of your roof trusses or ceiling joists, and photos inside the attic, I can analyze the load path to determine if the wall is load-bearing and calculate the necessary beam size.
What information do you need from me to design the beam and framing plan?
I need a dimensioned sketch of the current floor plan, a clear marking of which wall you want to remove, the length of the opening, and photos of the area (including attic photos showing how the roof or floor framing rests above the wall).
What materials do you specify for the replacement beam?
Depending on your clear span length, headroom limitations, and budget, I will design and specify the most optimal material, which typically includes Engineered Wood (LVL, PSL, Glulam) or Structural Steel I-beams (W-shapes).
