How is your feedback different from just asking my friend to read my book?
While friends are wonderful supporters, they often struggle to give truly objective feedback. I provide the perspective of a complete stranger who loves your genre, someone who has no relationship to protect.
I'm nervous about sharing my unpublished work. How do you protect my manuscript?
I understand, your book is your baby! I treat every manuscript with strict confidentiality. I never share your work or discuss it with anyone else. I'm can also sign an NDA if that makes you more comfortable.
Can you read a manuscript that's part of a series?
Yes, absolutely, just let me know where this book falls in the series and whether you need me to consider continuity with previous books. If it's book 2 or later, please confirm whether you want feedback assuming I've read the earlier books (I can, but we may need to adjust timing/pricing).
Do you work with authors who are writing in English as a second language?
Yes, many fantasy authors write in English as a second (or third!) language. My feedback will focus on story elements first: plot, character, pacing and flow and I will also note any areas where language use affects clarity or flow.
What happens if you hate my book?
I doubt I'll hate it, I'm picky about the projects I accept and only work in genres I like. But if elements aren't working for me, you'll get honest, constructive feedback about why, delivered respectfully.
