I will reconstruct lost bookkeeping and financial records
Bookkeeper Accounting Support Spreadsheet Development
About this Gig
Your bookkeeping records are missing, unavailable, or were never createdbut financial documents still exist.
Historical Reconstruction rebuilds past bookkeeping from the evidence you still have. This service is for small and medium-sized businesses that need historical records recreated when ordinary catch-up or cleanup bookkeeping is not possible.
Depending on the available documentation, I may use:
- Bank and credit-card statements
- Receipts, invoices, and vendor records
- Loan and merchant processor statements
- Payroll and sales-tax reports
- Existing accounting records or financial statements
- Other surviving financial documentation
The project may include reconstructed transactions, General Ledger activity, financial reports where supported, documented assumptions, and a summary of records that could not be recreated.
Reconstruction is limited by the documentation available and does not guarantee every historical transaction can be recovered.

FAQ
What is Historical Reconstruction?
Historical Reconstruction rebuilds missing or unavailable bookkeeping records from surviving financial documents. It is used when ordinary cleanup or catch-up bookkeeping cannot be performed because essential accounting records no longer exist or cannot be relied upon.
Can you rebuild lost bookkeeping records?
Yes, when sufficient financial documentation remains. I can reconstruct supported bookkeeping activity from available statements, receipts, invoices, reports, and other financial evidence. The amount that can be recreated depends on the records available.
What if I only have bank statements?
Bank statements may provide an important starting point, but they may not contain enough information to identify every transaction accurately. I will reconstruct what the available evidence supports and clearly identify items that remain uncertain or cannot be recreated.
What if some receipts are missing?
Missing receipts do not automatically prevent reconstruction. Other documents may support some transactions. Where sufficient evidence does not exist, I will document the limitation rather than invent information or claim that the transaction has been fully established.
Can you reconstruct QuickBooks records?
I can reconstruct bookkeeping that needs to be recreated in an appropriate bookkeeping system, including projects involving lost or unavailable QuickBooks records. This service does not recover deleted or corrupted QuickBooks computer files.
What documents should I provide?
Provide every surviving financial record you have, including bank and credit-card statements, receipts, invoices, bills, loan statements, payroll reports, merchant reports, prior financial statements, CPA workpapers, and existing accounting records where available.
Can every historical transaction be recreated?
No. Reconstruction depends on the documentation that survives. I will rebuild as much of the historical bookkeeping as the available evidence reasonably supports and identify records, transactions, or balances that cannot be reliably reconstructed.
How is a larger reconstruction project priced?
I first review the available documentation and estimated reconstruction effort. If the project exceeds a published package, I provide a fixed-price custom offer defining the approved scope before additional reconstruction work begins.
What if I find additional documents later?
Documents supplied within the original project scope can be considered during the reconstruction. Records discovered after completion that require additional reconstruction may constitute new work and require an additional scope and price.
Do you recover deleted QuickBooks files?
No. This is bookkeeping reconstruction, not computer data recovery. I rebuild historical financial records from surviving documentation rather than recovering deleted, corrupted, or inaccessible software files.
