Frequently Asked Questions

  • 1. What do you use to edit my poems?
I use Microsoft Word's Track Changes feature. It's important that you have Microsoft Word or a program (like Apache Open Office) that can display such changes and any comments that I make in the margins. This will also allow you to easily accept and reject each change as you see fit.
  • 2. Do you edit in British or Canadian English?
As a native of the United States, I edit in American English only. This doesn't mean I can't accept your order if your poems are written in British or Canadian English! Just don't expect me to correct spelling mistakes that are unique to your country.
  • 3. What if I just want a critique?
All you need to do is message me and let me know. You can pick between a half-page critique or a more in-depth, full-page critique. I'll send you an offer to accept on the message page. It's important to note that the pricing is dependent upon the word count.
  • 4. Do I have to pay extra if my poems exceed the word count I paid for a bit?
You have two choices: You can pay extra or I'll simply edit up to the exact word count that has been paid for. But I'm not too much of a stickler on this. For example: If you paid $5 for 511 words, I'll edit everything and you don't have to worry about paying extra.
  • 5. How long have you been a poet?
I've been writing poetry since I was 14. I'm now 27... So, quite a while! Within that time, I've easily written over 2,000 poems--some of which are published in various publications both online and in-print.
  • 6. My poems are VERY erotic, graphic, and/or disturbing... Can you still edit them?
I'd honestly prefer not to. While poetry with dark elements is perfectly fine (I've written it myself), anything overly sexual or violent isn't something I'd be willing to edit. Sorry.
  • 7. How many poetry books have you edited?
That's a good question. I have honestly lost count. I'd say dozens!
  • 8. What are your credentials?
*B.A. (honors) English (Creative Writing Focus). *10+ years writing & editing experience. *Award-winning Author. *Have edited AND written thousands of poems to date. *Have featured at a multitude of poetry readings & open mics. *Proud Bookworm of 10+ years. *Founder of Poehemian Press. *★★★★★
  • 9. My poetry manuscript is long. Do you provide consultations throughout the process?
Extensive consultations cost extra. Normally, clients send me the file and I edit all of it and deliver it on the due date. If they have any questions after looking everything over, they contact me and I'm always happy to help. During the editing process, I make sure to send at least one update.
