Do I actually need this? My packaging already has recycling symbols on it.
Recycling symbols alone don't satisfy Article 12. PPWR requires specific minimum content, a formal Declaration of Conformity per packaging type, and depending on your category traceability elements. Symbols are necessary but not sufficient.
I'm not based in the EU. Does this apply to me?
If your products are sold to EU customers, yes. The regulation applies to whoever places packaging on the EU market that includes non EU sellers shipping via Amazon EU, EU facing Shopify stores, or EU distributors.
What happens if I miss this?
Enforcement is primarily market access based non compliant new packaging can be blocked from sale, and marketplaces can suspend listings. Existing stock that was already on the market before the deadline generally has sell through allowances under national rules, but nothing new can go out without
