Here are some popular myths about selecting an auspicious date:-

1. The dates were based on random selection in any given month.
2. The dates occurred in a fixed pattern such as the "Success" day.
3. Some obviously unfavorable dates such as "Danger" day or "Destruction" day should be avoided at all costs.

The drawbacks of the above mentioned methods:

1. There was no regard paid to the birth chart of the person(s) seeking the auspicious date.
2. The purpose of the auspicious date was not taken into account such as getting married or starting a business.
3. If the pattern for an auspicious date was fixed and regular, then the said auspicious date should be suitable for all and sundry.
4. Why was it that sometimes there was no auspicious date in a given month?
