About this gig

I build static historical and narrative maps the kind used in books, documentaries, articles, or exhibitions to show how a place, event, or process unfolded over time.


Work is done in QGIS with attention to projection choice, period-accurate symbology, and a layout that reads clearly at print size.


Example: a map of Japan's railway expansion during the Meiji era, built with a Lambert Conformal Conic projection and rule-based symbology showing construction by period, using historical land ministry and Harvard CGA data.


What I need from you: the historical event or process, the time range, and any source data or references you already have. I can also source public historical datasets if none exist.
