2. What do you need from me to start?
Send a description of the issue, SQL Server version, expected behaviour, and available evidence such as query text, execution plans, timings, error messages, Query Store output, screenshots, or relevant logs.
3. Do you need access to my production database?
Not always. Many issues can be diagnosed from queries, execution plans, Query Store data, logs, and other evidence. If live access is needed, we will agree on the appropriate approach before work begins.
4. Can you work with on-premises and cloud SQL Server?
Yes. I can investigate SQL Server running on-premises, on virtual machines, or in cloud environments. Please provide your SQL Server version and hosting environment when describing the issue.
5. What if the issue is not SQL-related?
If the evidence shows SQL Server is not the root cause, I will document my findings and explain where the evidence points. Ruling out SQL Server is still a valuable outcome of root-cause analysis.
6. Can you investigate more than one issue?
