I specialise in horror, thriller, crime, mystery and darker fiction, but I'm happy to critique most fiction genres. If you're unsure whether your story is a good fit, message me before ordering.
Is this proofreading or editing?
No. This is reader-focused critique, not proofreading or line editing. I may point out prose, grammar or wording where it affects my reading experience, but I won't correct every error or rewrite your work.
Will you be honest if something isn't working?
Absolutely. Useful feedback shouldn't just tell you what you want to hear. If something isn't working for me, I'll explain what caused that reaction and why. I'll also highlight what works particularly well so you know what to preserve.
What will I receive?
You'll receive a structured Blackline reader report covering my experience of your opening, including hook, character, pacing, dialogue, clarity, atmosphere and reader engagement — finishing with the big question: would I keep reading?
Can I send more than one chapter?
Yes. The service is based on word count rather than chapter count. As long as your submission fits within the word limit of your chosen package, you can include multiple opening chapters or scenes.
