Receptionist
Nelson Mandela Metropolitan Municipality • Full-time
Dec 2012 - Present • 13 yrs 5 mos
I started working in the office as a temporary employee through an employment agency in 2008. I was meant to work for six months while the receptionist was on maternity leave, when she returned the boss asked to retain me to stay as an assistant to the Records Management Clerk as I had been helpful to her work while I was doing my receptionist work. 4 years later the receptionist got a job as a secretary to the Chief Of Staff and I was asked to assist with reception work while still working under the agency. I worked under the agency until I resigned from the agency in 2012 and began a new year to year contract with the municipality. Every December the contract would have to be renewed for the new year if the municipality still wanted to retain my services. Finally in 2013 I was permanently employed in the post to date, then in 2018 I was seconded to the Records Management Clerk position when the Records Management Clerk retired.

Cornerstone Supreme • Full-time
Jul 2007 - Aug 2008 • 1 yr 1 mo
I was trained at Cornerstone Supreme; I was the subsequently called and asked if I would be interested in working there, to which I said yes. I was asked to come Monday with a CV and a certified copy of my ID document for an interview. I worked there for about a year making about 50 calls a day to sell the 3-week course provided by the company. I enjoyed the work, especial getting uninterested strangers to becoming interested and sometimes buy the course we sold through building rapport, asking probing questions and professional telephone etiquette.
