FAQ
What exactly is a dieline, and why do I need one?
A dieline is the flat, 2D blueprint of your packaging. It acts as a precise template that tells the manufacturer exactly where to print, cut, and fold. Having a professionally designed, high-precision dieline ensures your boxes assemble perfectly without tearing, overlapping, or causing costly manuf
What information do I need to provide to get started?
To create a flawless template, I will need: The exact internal or external dimensions of the box (Length × Width × Depth). The specific type of material you plan to use (e.g., paperboard, corrugated cardboard, or rigid board). The style of the box (e.g., tuck-end, mailer, magnetic rigid box).
Why do you request that I contact you before placing an order?
Packaging is never "one size fits all." Different materials (like thick corrugated cardboard vs. thin paperboard) require different crease allowances to fold correctly. By messaging me first, I can review your product specs, ensure the box style matches your needs, and give you an accurate, qoute.
What file formats will I receive?
You will receive industry-standard high-precision vector files, usually in AI (Adobe Illustrator), EPS, PDF, and DXF formats. These are fully compatible with commercial printers, laser cutters, and plotters.
How are your files organized? Are they easy for my printer to use?
Yes, my files are meticulously organized with clean, separate layers. I isolate Dimensions/Notes, Bleeds, Cut Lines (usually red), and Crease/Fold Lines (usually green or dashed) so your manufacturer can process the file instantly without confusion.
Can you design the artwork and graphics for the box too?
This specific gig is focused on the structural engineering of the box (the dieline and template). However, I do offer graphic design services as a custom add-on! If you need full packaging design (logos, branding, typography) placed onto the dieline, please send me a message for a custom package.
Can you design custom internal inserts or trays?
Yes! Whether you need simple cardboard dividers or complex custom inserts to hold fragile products securely in place, I can design them. Please contact me with your product dimensions so I can quote the insert properly.
What happens if my manufacturer says the dieline needs an adjustment?
Your satisfaction and a successful print run are my top priorities. If your manufacturer reviews the file and requests a technical adjustment (such as tweaking a tuck flap or altering a crease allowance for their specific machinery), I offer revisions to ensure the file is 100% production-ready.
