About this Gig
I am a translator who specializes in reading old handwriting. I can translate documents such as old letters, genealogical documents such as birth certificates, baptismal certificates, marriage certificates, death certificates, census records, or other historical documents written in Cyrillic or Roman script. I work with Russian, Polish, Czech, Bosnian and Serbo-Croatian, Bulgarian, Ukrainian, and other languages. I study historical linguistics and am interested in local dialects, so I love working with documents that may be more challenging or that require niche skill-sets. Please do not hesitate to contact me with any projects you may have.
Because the difficulty of translating handwritten documents varies wildly and more difficult projects can require more time to complete, please message me with an image of your text so that I can give you a quote and approximate how long it will take me to complete. I will then send you a custom offer.

FAQ
How long will translation take?
It depends on how many other projects I have on my plate and how challenging the translation is. A document that is difficult to read will take me longer. For short and simple translations I can usually offer same-day translations, but other projects could take me several weeks! Write for more info.
Can you translate non-Slavic languages?
Yes, I also work with Romance languages, Germanic languages, and Greek.
Can you offer me a better price?
I can usually offer a better price if I have more time to complete the project, but I need to compensate for the time it takes me to do a project. If you have a budget, let me know and I will try to work with you.
Can you provide ordinary translations (not handwritten)?
Yes, I have worked as a professional translator and can do this as well. I advertise my work with handwriting because it is more difficult to find people who can do this, but I can also provide normal translations.
