About this gig
Your STEP file is the master. Everything else the web viewer, the 3D printer, the game engine needs a mesh. A bad conversion is where parts arrive inside out, 25 times too large, or too heavy to load.
FORMATS
- GLB / glTF web viewers, Sketchfab, three.js. In metres, the glTF standard, so it does not arrive a thousand times too big.
- OBJ any 3D package, with the parts kept separate.
- STL 3D printing, in millimetres 1:1, the way slicers expect.
- FBX Unity, Unreal and 3ds Max.
WHAT MAKES THE DIFFERENCE
Every conversion comes with a quality report: solids, triangle count, measured bounding box, and non-manifold edges. If that last number is zero, the mesh is watertight and your slicer will not complain. If it is not zero, I tell you before you find out at the printer.
You also get a shaded preview image of every converted part.
A WEB VERSION YOU CAN ACTUALLY USE
An 8-part housing exports to a 30 MB GLB. Nobody loads that on a product page. You get two files: full geometry with Draco compression at 3.5 MB, and a web version at 1.5 MB. Side by side they are indistinguishable.

What can you open?
STEP (.step, .stp), IGES (.iges, .igs), Parasolid (.x_t) and BREP. Native files such as .sldprt, .ipt, .f3d and .3dm cannot be opened — export a STEP from your CAD package first.
Will the dimensions be correct?
Yes, and I check them. STL, OBJ and FBX come out in millimetres 1:1, GLB in metres as the glTF standard requires. Tell me the overall size in millimetres and I will confirm it against the file.
Is the STL ready to print?
The report tells you. Tessellation from solid CAD geometry is watertight in almost every case, and the non-manifold edge count in the report proves it. If it is not zero, I say so.
How small can the web file get?
It depends on the part. An 8-part housing came down from 30 MB to 1.5 MB with no visible difference. Yours will be in that region.
Can you keep the parts separate?
Yes, in OBJ, GLB and FBX. STL has no concept of parts, so for that you get one file per part if you want them separate.
Do you add materials or colours?
Not in this gig — this is geometry conversion. If you want rendered images or an animation, see my other gigs.
