Will cleaning the code break what already works?
No. I keep everything that works and only remove what is truly dead or duplicated, and I explain every change. If the project has tests, I run them.
Do I need a full rewrite from scratch?
Almost never. Most "messy" apps just have accumulated junk and a few real bugs. Cleaning is far cheaper and faster than rebuilding.
What exactly is in the Audit package?
