I will set up your ubuntu vps for wordpress with nginx, php and SSL
About this Gig
You rented a $5 droplet, followed three different tutorials, and now you have a half-configured server, a site that loads only sometimes, and a nagging feeling that port 22 is wide open to the world.
I set it up properly once, so you can stop reading guides.
WHAT YOU GET
- Ubuntu LTS with Nginx, PHP-FPM and MariaDB, tuned for the RAM you actually have
- - WordPress installed and running on your domain
- - Free SSL that renews itself, HTTPS forced, HTTP/2 on
- - UFW firewall, SSH keys only, root login disabled, automatic security updates
- - Correct ownership and permissions, not everything running as root
WHY NOT JUST FOLLOW A TUTORIAL
Tutorials assume a clean machine and one use case. They skip what happens when the certificate fails to renew at 3am, when PHP-FPM runs out of workers, or when a plugin needs a directory the web user cannot write to. Those are the parts that bite months later, once you have forgotten what you did.
You also get a short handover document: what is installed, where the configs live, and how to do the things you will need most.
Any VPS with root SSH: Hetzner, DigitalOcean, Vultr, Linode, Contabo, OVH.
Tell me your provider and what has to run there.
