An estimate that's off by even a little can cost you the claim or the bid doesn't matter which one you're dealing with, the number still has to be right.
I run Xactimate estimates for insurance claims water, fire, storm damage, general restoration work and I also do straight construction, electrical, and MEP cost estimates for people who need something solid to bid with. For US projects I usually price off RS Means so the numbers actually reflect local rates instead of a rough average.
Most of my work comes from contractors and adjusters who've been burned once by an estimate that didn't hold up, so I try not to be that estimate.
Before ordering, send me what you've got photos and adjuster notes if it's a claim, drawings or scope if it's construction. I'll tell you honestly if something's missing before we start.
