About this Gig
Hello!
I'm Emma, and children's books are one of my biggest passions. As a certified reading teacher and literacy specialist, I have read thousands of picture books to young readers over the years. By doing so, I have a firm understanding of what makes a picture book successful and what children enjoy reading and listening to. Writing a book is a huge accomplishment, and I'm here to help you make yours shine!
This gig will include:
-Polishing your manuscript to refine the plot, structure, and character development
-Insightful, actionable feedback to strengthen your manuscript and take it to the next level
-Line-by-line proofreading for grammar, spelling, and punctuation
-Ongoing communication throughout the process
Microsoft Word or Google Docs are the preferred format (for easy tracked changes), but I'm happy to work with other formats too (like Pages or PDF).

FAQ
Should I send my illustrations?
Typically, children's books are edited before they are illustrated. However, if your story has already been illustrated, feel free to attach the illustrations in a separate document so that I can edit the manuscript in a document that doesn't have pictures.
What will I receive with my order delivery?
You will receive two copies of your edited manuscript. One will show all of my tracked changes and comments, and the other will have only comments. I am also happy to provide a clean copy. In addition, you will receive an editor's report outlining your story's strengths and areas for improvement.
Do you do custom orders?
Absolutely! Feel free to message me with your manuscript's word count and anything else you'd like to share, and I can send you a quote or answer any questions you may have.
Do you offer rush orders?
If you need your manuscript edited sooner than the listed time, feel free to reach out, and if I'm available, I would be happy to prioritize your order.
