Developmental Book Editor for Fiction, Nonfiction AND Memoir
About this Gig
Your nonfiction book, technology manuscript, or STEM guide may contain valuable knowledge, but readers can lose confidence when chapters feel disconnected, technical ideas arrive too quickly, or explanations lack a clear learning path.
I'm Eliot, a developmental book editor with 7 years of experience and editorial training. My completed projects include nonfiction books, technology guides, STEM learning materials, educational manuscripts, and KDP books.
I assess structure, chapter order, concept progression, clarity, audience fit, examples, transitions, repetition, and reader engagement. I flag explanation gaps, overloaded sections, unclear terminology, weak logic, and places where readers may lose their way. You'll receive developmental feedback, in-document comments, and practical revision recommendations.
Why work with me? I organize complex information without flattening your expertise or changing your voice. My goal is a manuscript that teaches clearly and guides readers from one idea to the next.
Send your draft and tell me what readers should learn. Lets make your book clearer, more coherent, and easier to use

FAQ
Will you preserve my voice and expertise?
Yes. My aim is to strengthen the way your ideas are organized and communicated while respecting your intended message, writing style, and specialist knowledge.
Can you edit a book intended for a course or training program?
Yes. I can review educational books and instructional guides for logical sequence, clarity, and how effectively the material leads learners from one concept to the next. Course design, slide creation, and curriculum development are not automatically included
Do you correct grammar and spelling?
The main focus of this gig is structure and content development, not proofreading or copy editing. Those services can be discussed separately if your manuscript also needs sentence-level correction.
Does the $15 package cover my entire book?
No. The $15 package covers up to 3,000 words and provides a focused diagnostic. Larger manuscripts require the appropriate package or a custom offer based on word count and scope.
Will you rewrite my manuscript?
Developmental editing primarily provides comments, assessment, and revision guidance. Full rewriting is not included unless we agree on that additional scope before the order begins.
Can you help if my book contains complicated ideas?
Yes. I can identify sections where explanations move too quickly, terminology is unclear, examples are poorly placed, or readers may struggle to follow the progression of ideas.
