Will this work with my existing IDE, VS Code, JetBrains, Cursor?
Yes. Claude Code runs in your terminal and works alongside any editor. Everything I set up lives in .claude/ and CLAUDE.md in your repo, nothing touches your IDE config or your application code.
What's the actual difference between claude subagents, claude skills, and claude hooks?
Subagents are isolated workers with their own context window, they handle research and parallel tasks without polluting your main session. Skills are SKILL.md folders Claude loads automatically when a task matches the description.
Can you do claude mcp server setup and mcp integration for my specific tools?
Yes. Standard mcp integration covers Git, Postgres/Supabase, and filesystem. For internal or custom APIs I'll need docs and a test credential, message me first so I can confirm it's feasible before you order.
Claude Code keeps ignoring my CLAUDE.md, can you fix that?
This is the most common failure and it's almost always length. An overloaded CLAUDE.md gets skimmed. I restructure it to the essentials and move the rest into skills that load on demand, plus hooks to enforce the rules that genuinely can't be optional.
Will claude hooks slow down my workflow or block my commits?
Only where you want them to. I scope hooks to your tolerance, formatting and linting run silently on edit; blocking hooks (like preventing commits to main or failing on broken tests) go in only if you ask. Every hook is a plain script in your repo that you can disable or delete.
