Most authors lose days to two problems: a cover KDP rejects over spine width or bleed, and an interior that still looks like a Word document. I fix both in one order, as one matched set.
WHY THE FILES PASS
Your spine is calculated from your exact page count and paper stock, never estimated. Bleed is set to specification. The barcode area keeps full clearance from the trimmed edge - where most covers quietly go wrong. Margins are mirrored, so the gutter sits on the binding side of every page.
A TYPESET INTERIOR
Chapters open on a right-hand page. Blank left-hand pages stay blank. Running heads sit on reading pages only. The contents page is built from your chapters with real page numbers.

I format and design books for independent authors, from my
studio in Tuscany.
Interiors: manuscripts set for KDP and print-on-demand. Correct
trim size, mirrored margins, gutter, running heads, chapter
openings on recto pages, full front and back matter, plus a clean
ebook file.
Covers: full paperback wraps built to the exact spine width for
your page count and paper, with bleed, safe margins and correct
barcode clearance, so the file passes KDP review the first time.

FAQ
Will my cover be accepted by KDP?
Your wrap is built to KDP's own measurements: spine width from your page count and paper stock, 0.125 in bleed, and a clear barcode area set in from the trimmed edge. If KDP ever flags a dimension, send me the message and I will correct the file at no charge.
I do not know my final page count yet
That is normal, and it matters — even two extra pages change the spine. Order the interior first. I will send the formatted PDF with the exact page count, then build the cover to match.
Do you design illustrated or photographic covers?
No. My covers are typographic — type, colour and layout. That suits business, self-help, memoir, poetry and literary books very well. For illustrated fantasy or romance art, you want an illustrator, and I will say so rather than take the order.
Do I get the editable source file?
You receive high-resolution print-ready PDF and PNG files, which is what KDP needs. Editable design source files are not included.
Can you format for hardcover or IngramSpark?
Message me before ordering. Hardcover and IngramSpark use different spine and margin rules, and I will quote it as a custom order so the file is right.
What file should I send?
A Word document or plain text with your chapters clearly marked. Keep chapter headings on their own line — "Chapter 1: The Arrival" or just the chapter title.
How many revisions?
One to three depending on package. Revisions cover layout, colour and typography adjustments. Rewriting your text is not included.
