About this Gig
HAVE YOU HIT A WALL WITH YOUR FICTION?
Let me open the door.
I hold an MFA in Creative Writing from St. Mary’s College of California. I am a Pushcart Prize nominee and a former MacDowell Colony Fellow. I was a participant in the famed Clarion Workshop at UCSD for Sci Fi/Fantasy and Horror. And have attended numerous other residencies and workshops.
My 20-plus years immersed in the writing world has given me an intimate understanding of how a story works, whether it be literary or speculative or nonfiction.
My critique includes:
- Comprehensive detailing of your story's strengths and challenges
- Specific suggestions on improvement
- Breakdown of craft elements, including characters, action and dialogue
- A follow-up consultation to discuss any questions that may arise
I have helped other writers see publication, garner prizes and win acceptances into MFA programs. I truly want to see you realize your potential as a storyteller!
My speciality is giving clear-cut examples of how to improve a piece, which may include taking a section of yours and rewriting it to illustrate.

FAQ
Do you do line edits?
I do developmental editing, which is related to structure, plot, etc. I don't do line edits for early drafts because much of the writing is likely to change anyway. However, I may point out sentences which are problematic and give alternate ideas. It's a case-by-case matter.
Do you critique complete novels or memoirs?
I do. However, it depends on my current workload and whether or not I believe it'll be ideal fit for the both of us. I would recommend purchasing a smaller critique first and going from there.
