About me
I’m Afo Ibra, a product designer working on sunglasses, optical frames and smart glasses. I turn sketches, reference photos and early ideas into 3D models, paying attention to frame shape, hinges, component placement and how the parts fit together. For smart eyewear, I also consider space for cameras, speakers, batteries and other electronics. My focus is on developing practical designs that can be reviewed, refined and prepared for physical prototyping.... Read more

I work on eyewear concepts that need to move beyond a sketch or reference image and take shape as a 3D model. My projects cover custom sunglasses, optical frames and smart glasses designed to accommodate electronic components. When developing a frame, I pay attention to its overall shape, lens openings, bridge, temples, hinges and the way individual parts connect. These details influence the appearance of the product, how it can be assembled and what may need to change before a physical prototype is made. Smart glasses require additional planning because the frame may also need to house cameras, microphones, speakers, batteries, wiring and small electronic boards. I consider where these components could sit, how much room they need and how their placement affects the thickness and proportions of the frame. The aim is to account for the technology while keeping the eyewear practical and comfortable in its intended use. Some projects begin with detailed reference photos, while others start with a rough drawing or an idea that has not yet been developed. I use these materials to establish the geometry and structure of the design, identify areas that need clarification and develop a model that can be reviewed before committing to a prototype. My work can also include refining hinges, temple connections, component housings and other structural details. Where required, I prepare CAD files for 3D printing and further development, including STL and STEP exports. Technical drawings and additional manufacturing files depend on the needs of each project. I approach each design with its next stage in mind. A model intended for an early visual review may need a different level of detail from one being prepared for a printed prototype. By considering the intended use, component fit and production method, I aim to make the design useful for more than presentation alone.
