I handed over a mostly clean manuscript and paid for a proofread, not an edit. But a fair amount still got missed and I ended up proofreading it myself afterward. She correctly flagged that some quotation marks were paste artifacts from earlier drafts, but didn't correct them, so I had to sweep the whole...
