I will develop ros2 autonomous navigation simulation using nav2 and gazebo
About this Gig
Hello,
I will be programming ROS2 autonomous navigation simulation.
By the end of this gig you will be having an autonomous navigation robot, which include:
- The robot is there in gazebo and rviz2, with it proper topics published
- Capable of controlling the robot on your own using the keyboard
- The robot will have ros2 controller plugin needed.
- The robot will be able generate the map of its environment, this is initially done by manually navigating the robot around to collect data
- The robot will be able to load the map and successfully localize itself
- The robot will be able to avoid obstacles in map while autonomously navigation from one point to another (goal point)
- The robot will have the necessary sensors used such as Lidar, camera or depth camera.
- I will also include a .md or a python notebook that explains the project with the necessary terminal commands to run the system.
I will be only limited for simulation, so no hardware deployment. Also there will be no custom controllers or planners. Things like learning based navigation or multi-robot navigation are also not included.
FAQ
What ROS2 version do you use?
I use ROS2 humble on ubuntu 22.
What gazebo version are you using?
I am using the gazebo classic.
Will you create a robot model from scratch?
No. This gig works with an existing robot model (URDF/Xacro). Creating robot designs from scratch is outside this scope. But, if its needed then let me know and we can discuss the details about it.
Is this for real robots or simulation only?
This gig is simulation-only. All work is done using Gazebo and RViz2. Real robot or hardware deployment is not included.
Will the robot navigate autonomously?
Yes, The robot will be able to navigate from one point to another point (a goal point) while autonomously avoiding obstacles.
