FAQ
Will an AI model really run on a tiny chip like an ESP32?
Yes, within limits. An ESP32-S3 comfortably runs quantised TFLite Micro models in the 10 to 200 KB range with a few milliseconds of inference time, which covers keyword spotting, gestures, simple vision and anomaly detection. For heavier object detection I recommend a Raspberry Pi or Jetson.
Which board should I use for my project?
Tell me the task, the frame rate and the power budget and I will recommend one, free, before you order. Rough guide: ESP32-S3 for audio, gestures and simple vision, Raspberry Pi 5 or the AI Kit for real object detection, Jetson Orin for multi camera or video models.
How many images or samples do you need to train my model?
As a working minimum, 150 to 300 good samples per class, and more for anything visually subtle. If you do not have data yet I can help you collect it, or add the dataset collection and labelling extra. I will always tell you honestly if your data is too thin before I take the order.
What accuracy can you guarantee?
I do not promise a number before seeing your data, because anyone who does is guessing. What I do guarantee is an honest benchmark report with per class accuracy and a confusion matrix, plus revisions to improve it. Most well separated classification tasks land in the 90 to 98 percent range.
Do I need to send you my hardware?
Usually not. I develop and test on the same board here, then send you firmware, code and a flashing guide. For unusual or industrial hardware we can do a screen share session to flash and test on your side, or you can ship the unit if you prefer.
Does this cost anything to run once it is deployed?
No. That is the whole point of edge AI. Once the model is on the device there are no API calls, no per image fee and no subscription. It keeps working with the internet unplugged. The only optional cost is a small server if you want a dashboard collecting events.
Can you also design the hardware, PCB and enclosure?
Yes. This account is an embedded hardware profile with 5 star reviews for firmware and PCB work. If you need the camera node designed, a board laid out and an enclosure specified as well as the AI model, message me and I will send one custom offer covering the whole build.
Can the device also send results to a dashboard or my system?
Yes. The device can publish detections over MQTT, HTTP or a webhook into your dashboard, ERP or database, while still making every decision locally. Premium includes a monitoring dashboard, and I also run a separate gig dedicated to AI powered IoT dashboards and alerts.
