You get the impression very quickly at the very high competency level you're dealing with with HCHogan. No need to get into examples, seek out her services or speak with her and you'll know what I'm talking about. Which is my wordy way of saying, recommend!

About This Gig

**Editor of multiple Amazon BESTSELLING Novels**

This gig is for fiction / memoir writers who are serious about taking their work to the next level. If you are not ready for professional criticism then it is not for you. And please contact me for non-fiction, but do not purchase the gig.

This assessment service includes:

  • Candid feedback regarding your story arc, characterization, plot, pace, tone, clarity, structure, engagement and if you've adequately 'hooked' the reader.

  • Specific ideas and suggestions regarding how you can improve weak spots. I don't just highlight issues, but offer creative solutions as well.

I specialize in long-form narrative genres including Romance, YA, NA, Sci-Fi, Political Intrigue, Christian, Fantasy and Memoir. No children's (under 13 years) or short stories, sorry!

I'm a full-time bestselling fiction editor and regular contributor at a major U.S. blog, with over 6.3 million readers each week. I also worked for three years as a screenplay assessor and now manage a popular writer's blog.

Please contact me for a quote if you have a custom word count and I'll respond within 12 hrs. Or 'try before you buy', with a quick trial.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • Do you edit non-fiction?
I specialize in narratives, or manuscripts that follow a story. Many projects I edit are non-fiction; particularly memoirs, or books based on true stories. Having said that, I don't edit-self help, textbooks, or other non narrative works. Confused? Feel free to send me a message about your project.
  • I already have a good story. Do I need a developmental editor?
YES. I am a professional writer, and I know I write great commercial stories. But I still have a developmental editor to show me the creative issues with my work that I'm too close to see. Plot holes, weak characters, flat dramatic moments; a developmental editor will make a good book, a great one.
  • Do you edit full length novels?
YES, in fact 90% of the work I do is with 50,000 to 150,000 word manuscripts. Simply send me a message with your word count and project details, and feel free to also attach your first chapter. I'll then perform a sample edit to demonstrate my work, as well as provide you with a quote and timeline.
