I am an experienced writer and editor, with formal training from The Publishing Training Centre and a 1st-Class BA in Creative Writing and Film.
As your developmental editor, I will provide substantive feedback on your book that prioritises your vision and enhances your connection to readers.
I will:
- Invest quality time in your manuscript. Developmental edits are intensive with the feedback to match. My service may take longer than a beta read, but you can be sure you'll receive a hefty editorial report and notes direct to your manuscript, full of expert advice to refine your work.
- Provide deep focus on the big picture, including: premise, hooks, plot, structure, conflict, tension, pacing, characterisation, POV, dialogue, chapters, world building, genre, audience and more!

What type of file should I submit?
Please send your manuscript as a single Microsoft Word document (.doc or .docx). I use Microsoft Word Track Changes so you can see my suggested edits. However, I also accept Mac Pages and PDFs.
What is a developmental edit? Do I need it?
A developmental edit is an in-depth critique of your work. It focuses on the macro elements such as structure, content, voice and tone. If you're struggling to finish your book, or want expert feedback on your strengths and weaknesses, you're in the right place.
Will you fix my spelling, grammar, punctuation, sentence structure, etc?
No. You're looking for a copyeditor, line editor or proofreader. This gig will help you be ready for a copyeditor. The last thing you want to do is pay for copyediting, only to find yourself having to rewrite a chapter later.
Do you offer alternative packages for smaller / larger manuscripts?

Do you offer quicker turn around?
No. However, I usually complete my edits quicker than my projected time frame. Developmental edits are highly substantive so turn arounds depend on factors such as word count and the state of the manuscript. Rest assured, I will keep you updated and complete every edit to the best of my ability.
