Head of Accounts
Apr 2026 - Present • 3 mos
I currently serve as Head of Accounts for a private client in Pakistan's entertainment industry, where I hold full ownership of the accounting and financial reporting function — not a supporting role, but the person accountable for the numbers being right. My day-to-day responsibilities span the complete accounting cycle: recording and categorizing transactions, maintaining the general ledger, performing bank and credit card reconciliations, and managing month-end and year-end close processes. Beyond the transactional work, I prepare financial statements and management reports that give the client a clear, accurate picture of their financial position — something particularly important for a client whose income streams and expenses can be more complex and less predictable than a typical business, given the nature of work in the entertainment industry. This role also requires a level of discretion and professionalism that goes beyond standard bookkeeping. I'm handling sensitive financial information for someone with a public profile, which means confidentiality isn't optional — it's a core part of how I operate. I bring that same standard of discretion to every client relationship, including freelance engagements, because financial information is sensitive regardless of who it belongs to. Given the confidentiality of this engagement, I don't disclose the client's identity or specific financial details publicly. What I can share is this: this role reflects my ability to independently manage a complete accounting function end-to-end, without close supervision, making real-time decisions about categorization, reporting structure, and financial presentation — the same level of ownership and judgment I bring to every project I take on for Fiverr clients.
Accounting & Advisory Associate (UAE Engagements
Dec 2024 - Present • 1 yr 7 mos
I work with a Dubai-based accounting firm supporting client engagements across the UAE, with a specific focus on IFRS-compliant financial reporting, VAT preparation, and Corporate Tax computation and advisory support. On the financial reporting side, my work includes preparing financial statements for UAE-registered entities in accordance with International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS), reviewing underlying accounting records for accuracy and compliance-readiness, and structuring reports in a way that meets the documentation expectations of UAE regulatory bodies and auditors. On the tax and compliance side, I prepare VAT return workings for review and submission, and support Corporate Tax computation and advisory schedules following the UAE's introduction of federal Corporate Tax. This means calculating tax positions based on a client's financial statements, preparing supporting workings and analysis, and helping clients understand their compliance obligations clearly — even where I'm not the one submitting the final filing. This engagement has given me practical, applied exposure to the UAE regulatory and reporting environment, distinct from theoretical knowledge — including the specific documentation standards, reporting formats, and compliance expectations that UAE-based businesses and their auditors look for. Combined with my Pakistan-based work, this gives me a working understanding of both South Asian and Gulf accounting environments, which is directly useful for businesses operating in, or expanding into, the UAE market and looking for someone who already understands the local compliance landscape rather than learning it from scratch.
Audit Trainee (Articleship) — Audit, Accounts and Bookkeeping
Apr 2024 - Present • 2 yrs 3 mos
Currently completing my Chartered Accountancy (CA) articleship with ICAP, with over two years of hands-on experience in external audit engagements across a range of industries and client sizes. Core responsibilities have included audit planning and risk assessment, evaluation of internal controls, execution of audit procedures, and preparation of detailed audit working papers and documentation in line with professional auditing standards. This work required close attention to the accuracy, completeness, and supportability of financial statement figures — skills that carry over directly into how I approach bookkeeping and reporting work for freelance clients today: verifying, cross-checking, and documenting, rather than simply recording numbers. As part of this articleship, I completed a dedicated engagement in Quality Control Review (QCR) documentation, supporting the assessment of audit file quality and compliance with professional standards for multiple audit firms. This assignment is now complete, but it sharpened my understanding of what makes financial records and reporting genuinely audit-ready — a perspective I bring into every bookkeeping and financial reporting project I take on. This audit background is the foundation of how I work: I don't just enter transactions, I think about whether the resulting numbers would hold up under external scrutiny.
