I will add unit tests to your embedded c firmware without hardware
Embedded C Firmware Engineer for Renesas, STM32, Embedded Linux, CAN, BLE and Un
About this Gig
Your firmware has no tests, and every change feels risky?
I add host-based unit tests to embedded C code, so you can test logic on a PC without any board.
I am a Japanese embedded engineer with 20 years of experience at major electronics makers and an automotive Tier-1 supplier (airbag ECU, EV interface box, construction machinery).
What I will do:
- Analyze your code and choose the modules worth testing first
- Mock hardware registers and drivers so tests run on a PC
- Write tests with Unity, CppUTest or GoogleTest, including edge cases
- Set up a simple build script or CI (GitHub Actions / GitLab CI)
- Report bugs found during testing
What you get:
- Test code and mocks that build and run on your PC
- Coverage report
- A short guide so your team can add more tests
Supported: C / C++, Renesas RX / RH850 / V850, STM32 / ARM Cortex-M, embedded Linux, uITRON and bare metal.
I use modern AI-assisted tools to work fast, and I personally review every test for correctness.
Please message me with your MCU, code size and build environment before ordering.
FAQ
Do you test on real hardware?
No. I work on your source code, logs and captures. You flash and test on your board, and I fix issues quickly based on your results.
Can we have a video call?
I work in written English only. This keeps every requirement and decision documented, and I reply quickly.
Will you sign an NDA?
Yes. I have 20 years of experience handling confidential code for Japanese manufacturers.
Which test framework will you use?
I use Unity, CppUTest or GoogleTest. If your team already uses a framework, I will follow it. If not, I will suggest the best fit for your code.
