Because often there are many ways to get to your destination on miles but only one which offers a good or a great value! On our honeymoon, we flew on Qatar Airways to the Maldives. I had 4 different choices of how to book with different miles. We saved roughly 40,000 miles just by how we booked!

If the space is there, I guarantee I will find it! But since that space is ultimately dependent on the operating carrier, and whether it's made available to their own customers or to their partner airlines, I can't always guarantee I'll locate award space for a given itinerary.
