If you want something 3D printed, then that object needs to be designed with this in mind, so that you obtain a product with good surface finish, that performs adequately and that is economically efficient to produce.


For example:

  • The orientation of the individual printed layers need to be correctly studied to prevent it from braking during use;
  • The design needs to take make sure as little support material is used during 3D printing so that you have a quick and economically viable product to sell;
  • The design needs to take into account what material it will be made in (for example a flexible filament product will need a completely different design that say a PETG on)
