About this Gig
Building a device that needs to survive dust, rain, washdown, or outdoor exposure? I design enclosures engineered to meet specific IP (Ingress Protection) targets from light splash protection up through full dust-tight, water-jet-resistant housings.
What's included in an IP-rated design:
- Enclosure geometry engineered to your target IP rating (IP54 through IP67)
- Gasket channel/O-ring groove design for a proper compression seal
- Sealed cable gland and connector cutout specification
- Screw boss sealing detail so fasteners don't compromise the seal
- Pressure-equalizing vent membrane placement if your device generates internal heat
- Guidance on IP-rated connector and gasket material selection
Important note on scope: I design enclosures to meet your target IP rating. Formal IP certification requires third-party lab ingress testing (per IEC 60529), which is outside this gig I'll flag reputable testing labs if you need official certification down the line.

Q: Will my enclosure be "IP67 certified" when you're done?
A: I design it to meet IP67 specifications. Certification requires physical lab testing by an accredited third party — I can point you toward testing labs, but that's a separate step outside this design service.
Q: What IP rating do I actually need?
A: Tell me your use case (indoor, outdoor, washdown, submersion risk) and I'll recommend the right target rating before we start.
Q: Do I need to source a gasket material myself?
A: I'll spec the gasket dimensions and recommend suitable materials (silicone, EPDM, neoprene) — sourcing is on you, or I can point you to my sourcing gig.
Q: Can this be combined with a watertight/submersible design?
