When do I need a 4-layer or 6-layer board?
You need a 4-layer board when your design has high-speed digital signals, dense component placement, mixed analog and digital circuits, or when EMI performance matters. A 6-layer board is typically needed for complex RF designs, DDR memory interfaces, or boards that must pass FCC or CE certification
What is controlled impedance, and do I need it?
It means the PCB traces are manufactured to a specific electrical impedance, usually 50 or 100 ohms. It is needed for USB 3.0, HDMI, Ethernet, RF traces, and high-speed serial interfaces. I calculate the trace widths, specify the stackup, and route accordingly so your board passes signal integrity.
Can you design a specific manufacturer's stackup like JLCPCB's standard 4-layer?
Yes. I design the exact stackup specifications of JLCPCB, PCBWay, or whichever manufacturer you are using. This ensures the controlled impedance values are accurate for the actual material your board will be made from. Tell me your manufacturer when ordering and I will use the correct stackup data.
Do you provide a BOM with component part numbers I can use to order parts?
Yes. The BOM I deliver includes component values, footprints, and either LCSC part numbers for JLCPCB SMT assembly or Mouser and DigiKey part numbers for self-sourcing. You can use it directly to order components without any additional research.
Can you take over a half-finished PCB design someone else started?
Yes. Share the existing KiCad, Altium, or EasyEDA project files and I will review the work done, identify issues, and complete or correct the design. Message me first with the files so I can assess the scope before you order.
