What is Vaadin and why would I use it?
Vaadin is a Java framework for building modern web applications. It is particularly useful for business applications, internal tools and data-heavy systems where teams want to build the UI and backend around a Java/Spring Boot stack without maintaining a separate JavaScript frontend application.
What types of applications can you build with Vaadin?
I can build admin portals, dashboards, ERP/CRM interfaces, workflow systems, data-management applications, financial/business applications and other web applications with complex forms, tables, permissions and business logic.
Can you work on an existing Spring Boot or Vaadin application?
Yes. I can add views, workflows, integrations and features to existing Spring Boot/Vaadin applications, as well as troubleshoot or modernize existing implementations. Please contact me first for existing codebases so I can review the scope.
What counts as a page?
A page is one distinct Vaadin application view or screen, such as Dashboard, Users, Orders or Reports. Dialogs, tabs and components within a view do not automatically count as separate pages, but unusually complex functionality may require additional scope.
Does the application include a Spring Boot backend and database?
Yes, where required by the selected package. I can build the application using Spring Boot with database persistence, business logic, authentication, APIs and Vaadin UI components as one integrated application architecture.
Can you integrate third-party APIs and services?
Yes. External APIs, payment services, identity providers and other systems can be integrated. One additional external integration can also be purchased as a Gig Extra. Complex integrations should be discussed before ordering.
Can you add authentication and user roles?
Yes. Applications can include authentication, authorization and role-based access using Spring Security and appropriate authentication mechanisms based on the project requirements.
Do I need React, Angular or another JavaScript frontend?
Not necessarily. One of Vaadin's advantages is that a complete web application can be developed primarily with Java and Spring Boot. This can simplify development and maintenance for Java-centric teams while still providing a modern browser-based UI.
